As a complete feed, provide 1 to 2 lbs per 100 lbs body weight each day. Along with forage, feed at 0.5 to 1 lbs per 100 lbs body weight per day. Divide the total daily feeding into two feedings approximately 12 hours apart AM/PM. Adjust the amounts given according to environment, work level and body condition of the horse. Provide clean fresh water at all times. Make all feeding changes gradually over a two-week period. Provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times except to hot, tired horses. Horses should be cooled out properly before having access to unlimited water or being fed. Horses should have their feeding rate reduced when exercise is reduced. Salt should be available free choice.
